7
L
SECTION 02776
LANDFILL GAS EXTRACTION WELLS
PART 1 -GENERAL
1.01 SUMMARY
A. Section covers the installation of two landfill gas (LFG) extraction wells as shown
on the construction drawings and as specified herein. Providing wells accepted by
the regulatory agencies as suitable for extracting landfill gas from refuse outside dw
permitted limit of the landfill, as identified herein, is of the essence.
B. Related Sections:
1. Section 02200 - Site Earthwork
2. Section 02,773 — Geocomposite Drainage Layer
3. Section 02750 — High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Piping
C. Existing Site Conditions
1. High Pressure Petroleum Pipeline
A high pressure petroleum pipeline, owned by Shell Oil, runs across the landfill
about sixteen feet offset from the north eastern fence line of the landfill. Drilling of
the wells is close to the high pressure pipeline; thus, the contractor is advised to take
extreme caution. Before any drilling work, the Contractor and the County shall both
call for Underground Service Alert (USA). During drilling, a representative of Shell
Pipeline must be present. The Contractor shall coordinate all drilling work with the
Shell Oil pipeline representative.
2. Drilling Area
a. Uncapped refuse has been discovered outside the limits of the permitted
landfill. The new LFG wells will be installed in the areas of uncapped
refuse; thus, work of this contract includes excavation of refuse or contact
with refuse.
b. The well drilling locations are on a slope and may have limited access.
Full access to the drilling location will include building a drill rig pad
with on site soil. The pad must be removed after drilling. The contractor
shall include building of the pads where required in his proposal.
SHAWENVIRONMENTAL, INC.
San Joaquin County — Extension of Cap Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill — CH Closure Cap Ext Proj_Technical Specs 4-19-12 Revl.DocRev. 0, 04/05/2012
Landfill Gas Extraction Well
02776-1
