® MONITORING PROGRAM
Water quality is monitored in accordance with WDR Order No. 5-01-176 and the monitoring
program approved by the Regional Water Quality Control Board.
Water purged from wells prior to sampling is disposed of to the ground around the wells, away
from surface drainage features (Appendix A). This is a common practice when the water sampled
is non-toxic, as at CHSL.
Progress of Corrective Action Measures is submitted twice yearly (during 1St and 3rd quarters),
documenting the effectiveness of current corrective action measures.
Groundwater
The groundwater monitoring network consists of nine monitoring wells: seven monitoring the
shallow aquifer perched on the Corcoran clay layer east of the CHSL, and two monitoring the
deep aquifer.
Groundwater samples are analyzed for the following quarterly field and monitoring parameters as
specified in WDR Order No. 5-01-176:
Groundwater Elevation Total dissolved solids(TDS)
Temperature Chloride
Electrical conductivity(EC) Sulfate
pH Nitrate-nitrogen
Turbidity Volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
Groundwater samples are analyzed annually for these additional parameters:
Carbonate Magnesium
Bicarbonate Potassium
Calcium Sodium
Groundwater samples are analyzed every five (5) years for the following Constituents of Concern
(COCs). COCs were last monitored in the third quarter of 2009. The next groundwater COC
monitoring scheduled for the third quarter of 2014.
The CDCs are:
Total Organic Carbon Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds
Inorganics(dissolved) Chlorophenoxy Herbicides
Volatile Organic Compounds (extended list) Organophosphorus Compounds
Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill 9 Department of Public Works/Solid Waste
1s`Quarter 2013 Groundwater Monitoring County of San Joaquin—April 15,2013
