2.01 PIPE AND FITTINGS <br />A. Probe pipe shall be schedule 40 polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with flush <br />threaded ends and fittings for the unperforated probe shafts. <br />B. No 6 3/8 -inch stainless steel screws shall be used to secure Schedule 40 <br />PVC pipe and fittings. <br />C. Sampling tube shall be of polyethylene tubing (P.E), 3/16 inch ID x 1/4 -inch <br />OD. There shall be no splicing. Sampling tubes shall be of the following <br />color for easier distinction for a particular probe. <br />1. Deep probes: Sampling tube shall be Yellow/Gold color. <br />2. Intermediate probes: Sampling tube shall be Blue color <br />3. Shallow probes: Sampling tube shall be Red color. <br />D. Provide rubber stoppers, as shown on drawings. <br />2.02 BACKFILL MATERIALS <br />A. Pea Gravel shall: <br />1. Consist of rounded to subangular material from a natural source <br />(not crushed). <br />2. Contain no limestone. <br />3. Comprise of maximum particle size of 3/8 -inch. <br />4. Contain 50 to 90 percent by weight passing the No. 4 Sieve. <br />5. Contain less than 3 percent by weight passing the No. 200 Sieve. <br />B. Bentonite shall be premium grade sodiumbentonite clay, 8 mesh granules, <br />Benseal, or approved equivalent. <br />C. Cement Slurry: Cement slurry with 5 percent bentonite. <br />D. Concrete shall comply with ASTM C85, or Ready -Mixed concrete complying <br />with ASTM C94. <br />E.
