AMENDMENT TO THE APPLICATION FOR PERMIT TO OPERATE
FRENCH CAMP DISPOSAL SITE
Item #1 - Compaction Density:
The operation at the French Camp disposal site does not employ
compaction equipment. What compaction is accomplished is done
with the D-8 used for pushing. This leaves a relatively low
density of approximately 600 pounds per cubic yard. Subsequent
to the placement of the debris or refuse that is deposited at
this site, approximately 3 feet of fill is placed on the debris.
The effect of this overburden on the refuse compaction in a
three-year period brings this in-place density to approximately
1200 pounds per cubic yard.
Item #2 - Frequency and Depth of Cover:
Daily cover is applied to the refuse deposited at this site.
The ultimate depth of this cover is three feet.
Item #3 - Standby Equipment:
This facility is operated in conjunction with the Austin Road
landfill site and a crawler tractor, Caterpillar D-8, is
available for use in emergencies. The crawler tractor regularly
used at the site is a D-8 Caterpillar crawler tractor, and parts
are available from Holt Bros. in Stockton, California.
Item #4 - Total Acreage of the Site:
The total area of the French Camp disposal site is 66 acres.
