3.0 SOLID WASTE MONITORING
During the fourth quarter 2006 the French Camp Landfill did not receive waste and
closure of the landfill was completed. The final closure report has been submitted to the
regulatory agencies (Appendix A).
4.0 SOIL-PORE GAS MONITORING
Soil-pore gas monitoring at the French Camp Landfill was conducted on November 15,
2006. Specifically, field measurements of oxygen, carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrogen
were recorded in volumetric percent for probes SGP-1, SGP-2A, SGP-3, SGP-5A, and
SGP-7A using a Landtec GEM 2000. During the current monitoring period no methane
was detected in any of the probes (Appendix Q. Of note, the field technician could not
locate probes SGP-4A, SGP-6A, and SGP-8A during the monitoring event. Since then,
these probes have been located and monitoring results for these probes will be included in
the next quarterly monitoring report.
5.0 WATER QUALITY MONITORING
5.1 SAMPLING AND LABORATORY YSES
All of the groundwater monitoring wells and surface water monitoring points were
® sampled on November 16, 2006. Prior to collection of samples, depth-to-water
measurements were recorded for all groundwater monitoring wells. Due to the final
cover construction, the casing for leachate monitoring well MW-IA was extended but not
the pump's tubing. An attempt to pull the pump and extend the tubing was performed,
however, due to curvature in the well casing, the pump became lodged in the well and
can no longer be sampled. Forward is currently in the process of abandoning this well.
In addition, well MW-8A was buried during the final cover construction and could not be
located during the monitoring period. The well was recently located and monitoring
results will be included in the next quarterly report.
A single sample set was collected from each sampling point(groundwater, leachate, and
surface water)and analyzed for the parameters stipulated in RWQCB Order No. R5-
2004-0159, and summarized in Table 1. Water quality samples were also analyzed in the
field for dissolved oxygen, turbidity, temperature, specific conductance, and pH and the
field measurements were recorded on well data sheets. The groundwater monitoring
wells and surface water monitoring points were sampled in accordance with the sampling
and analysis procedures detailed in Appendix B. Well data sheets, raw laboratory data,
certificates of analyses, and chain-of-custody records for the sampling program are
included in Appendix C. The laboratory analyses and field results for groundwater wells
and surface water sampling stations are summarized in Tables 2 through 5.
n:UM on\Fc fKdoc
Geologic Associates
