2.0 REGRADING WORKPLAN
2.1 Objective
The objective of this work is to regrade areas of the top surface of the HLSL where settlement
has decreased the surface drainage grade to below three percent.
This work will not involve any modification or penetration of the final cover's low-hydraulic-
conductivity layer. Therefore, a Construction Quality Assurance plan, per Title 27, Section
21090(b)(1)(E), is not required.
2.2 Pre-Construction Activities
2.2.1 Topographic Survey
The initial task will be to survey the existing top surface of the HLSL. This survey will include
the entire footprints of both the primary and secondary sites located at the HLSL(Figure 2).
From this topographic survey, the County will determine all areas along the top surface that
require regrading.
2.2.2 Grading Plan
A grading plan will be prepared from the above topographic survey. This grading plan will
include:
• Drawings which locate the areas that will be repaired
• Proposed new grades of the HLSL.
• Quantities of soil necessary to complete regrading activities
• Grading stakes in areas where regrading is necessary
2.2.3 Contractor Procurement
Due to the magnitude of this work, the County will seek to hire a contractor to regrade the top
surface of the HLSL. The process of hiring the contractor will include the following:
• Acceptance of the project by the Board of Supervisors (BOS)
• Advertisement and bid opening of the project
• Acceptance of the successful bidder by the BOS
Final Cover Regrading Workplan County of San Joaquin
Harney Lane Sanitary Landfill Public Works Dept.
April 25,2002 2-1 Solid Waste Division
