B
CONCLUSIONS
The monitoring results show no exceedances of methane concentrations greater than 5%in any
of the probes. This is an improvement over recent quarters, and may be an indication that the
work on the gas system is helping to control gas migration. Past quarters have shown gas levels
above 5% in all the wells along the labor camp (GW-1 to GW-3), and in GW-12, and this quarter
while some levels of gas were detected, they were lower than the 5% limit. The County has
made modifications to the gas system that has allowed for more vacuum to be available to the
north half of the site. Adjustments are still being made to run the system more efficiently and to
control gas migration. The reduced levels of gas in the probes show that the County is making
improvements, and work is still being done to operate the system most efficiently.
Monitoring will continue with the next monitoring event in April 2000. Further monitoring will
help determine if the gas control system is working efficiently.
N:\WES\HL\GAS\lst2000gas.wpd
5
