CALIFORNIA 95202
TELEPHONE 464-4828
April 3, 1973
Mr. Jepperson
California Regional Water Quality
Control Board--Central Valley Region
3251 S Street
Sacramento, CA 95816
Re: California Clay Products Company
Solid Waste Disposal Site
3200 S. Mckinley Ave, , Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Jepperson:
After your recent inspection visit of the above site, we
have obtained data on the ground soils lying below the Pit and
the position of the nearest aquifier. These documents are enclosed.
It appears that the dense clay strata, without sandy intervals ,
extends the entire distance from the floor of the Pit, forty-eight
feet to the ground water table , and the first sand strata is at 112 feet
This would seem adequately protective, to enable limited
Class II waste disposal, that is waste limited to solid, relatively
inert material, without substantial liquid, petroleum, or slushy
products . And to satisfy air pollution requirements, no putrescent
substances should be allowed.
The limited Class II disposal will be completed in less than
three years, and an advisable requirement might be that a surface
layer of Class III fill, three feet in width, be added to "finish
off"the fill.
We ask that you please take such additional measures as are
necessary to issue a Classification permitting Limited Class II
waste disposal in the Northeast Extention of the Pit, over an
approximate area of one acre; and that the balance of the Pit
(southern ten acres) be classified for Class III solid waste disposal.
Sin er6ly,,
JAK C.
