(Clayton), a Bureau Veritas Company, has prepared this workplan for abandonment and installation of replacement groundwater monitoring wells at the subject site. The location of the site is shown on Figure 1. The following sections provide a brief background discussion; a description of proposed field activities related to groundwater monitoring and well replacement; reporting details, and a schedule for completion of the proposed elements. California Clay Products operated a brick factory from 1910 to 1955 on a 21 -acre site on South El Dorado Street that included what is now the property owned by Cove Contractors and the Universal Recycling Services site to the north. After 1955, backfilling of the quarry area with inert materials such as dirt and broken concrete from building and road contractors was initiated. In 1973, the eastern three acres of the excavation were made available for the disposal of auto shredder waste (ASW) and other non -liquid, non -petroleum, non -putrescent, and inert materials. In June 1979, Cove Contractors purchased the southern half of the California Clay Products site. The northern half was sold to Martin Metal Finishing and is now the site of Universal Recycling Services. Cove Contractors continued to dispose ASW until October 1982, when disposal at the site was suspended.
