0 0 <br /> 3.2.1 GENERAL SAFETY DIRECTIVES <br /> General safety directives include, but are not limited to,the following: <br /> • No eating, drinking, or smoking on-Site. <br /> • No contact lenses. <br /> • Hard hats and steel-toed boots will be worn at all times. <br /> • Hearing protection must be worn if noise levels prevent normal conversation at a <br /> distance of 3 ft. <br /> • Site access will be restricted to authorized personnel only. <br /> • All operations will have first aid kits, eye washes, and fire extinguishers available. <br /> • No facial hair is allowed that will interfere with the respirator face seal. <br /> • The SHSP will be available on-Site at all times. <br /> 3.2.2 PHYSICAL HAZARDS <br /> Physical hazards associated with the Site activities include slip and/or trip and fall hazards, <br /> hazards associated with heavy machinery (Section 3.2.6), and hazards associated with <br /> underground utilities (Section 3.2.5). <br /> Specific physical hazards inherent to the Site also include working on railroad property (section <br /> 3.2.2.1), heat stress (Section 3.2.9) and noise hazards (Section 3.2.11). Specific physical hazards <br /> associated with Site operations include drilling activities. <br /> In addition, specific hazards associated with high traffic areas and open excavations are as <br /> follows: <br /> Traffic hazards safety directives include, but are not limited to,the following: <br /> • Site work might necessitate working in areas with vehicular traffic. In such <br /> instances, the work team will be wearing neon traffic safety vests and will use a <br /> combination of traffic cones (each cone/flag configuration must be a minimum of <br /> 42-inches in height) and barricades as necessary to prevent contact between <br /> workers and motor vehicles. <br /> Well installation hazards safety directives include, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> • The entire Site is bounded with security fencing. The Site will be locked at the end <br /> of each work day to restrict access to Site and work areas. <br /> • For installation areas off-Site on the railroad property, an exclusion zone, <br /> contamination reduction zone and support zone will be identified for each <br /> monitoring well location.
