i 0
SITE CONTROL
The contractor will conduct Site activities in a controlled fashion to reduce the potential of
contact with any contaminants present and potential physical hazards due to the use of heavy
machinery. This will be achieved by establishing work zones.
8.1 WORK ZONES
An exclusion zone, contamination reduction zone, and support zone will be identified for each
Site or Site activity. The Exclusion Zone will be marked with yellow CAUTION tape, barricades
and/or cones (each cone must be a minimum of 3-ft in height, total min. 42-inches), as needed.
When in use, the heavy equipment such drill rigs will be completely enclosed within the Exclusion
Zone. Sample preservation will be conducted in the Contamination Reduction Zone. The
perimeter of the Contamination Reduction Zone will also be identified with barricades and/or
cones. No unauthorized persons will be allowed in the Exclusion Zone or Contamination
Reduction Zone without approval from the SSO. The work zones will exclude Site employees, the
public, and personnel not directly involved in the activity.
In addition to the exclusion zones, the proximity to the rail lines will be marked. A 25-foot buffer
zone from the nearest track will be established to insure that no equipment or personnel enter
this zone.
23 MI ""Dams
P:\707 Cove Contractors\Groundwater\Well Installation Workplans\SHSP\SHSP_FINAL.doc
