INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT TASK FORCE
COUNTY OF SAN JOAQUIN
P.0.BOX 1910.STOCKTON,CALIFORNIA 95MI
PHONE(M%4W_4M FAX(M9)46&3078
August 3, 1995
Ed Padilla, Senior Registered
Environmental Health Specialist
Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
Post Office Box 388
Stockton, California 95201
Subject: PROPOSED GROVER COMPOST FACILITY
IN CITY OF MANTECA
Dear Mr. Padilla:
On August 3, 1995, the San Joaquin County Integrated Waste Management Task
Force reviewed the compost facility proposed by Grover Landscape Services,
Inc. , located at the Spreckles Sugar Plant in the City of Manteca, in
accordance with Section 50000, Division 31, of the Public Resources Code.
It is the understanding of the Task Force that the proposed facility will be
capable of handling up to 500 tons of green waste per day and will process
waste generated by the Spreckles Sugar Plant and green waste delivered by
municipal and commercial haulers. Compost produced will be marketed to
agricultural users by Grover.
It is the intent of Grover to provide composting services to jurisdictions
within and outside of San Joaquin County. Consequently, the facility will be
available to help San Joaquin County jurisdictions meet their waste diversion
goals.
Based on the above understanding, the Task Force has concluded that the
proposed project is consistent with the goals and policies established by the
Task Force for San Joaquin County integrated waste management.
Any questions should be directed to Tom Horton, San Joaquin County Integrated
Waste Manager, at 468-3066.
S'ncerely,
George L.
