The MRF tipping floor is <br />cleaned on a regular basis by running a street sweeper over the floor. <br />The in -floor conveyor and sorting line are cleaned routinely using a <br />high pressure air hose and water. The small amount of water to clean <br />the transfer trailers tipping floor, conveyors and sorting line flows to a <br />clarifier and is then discharged to the city sewer system. <br />3.1.2.2 CONTAINER CLEANING <br />Containers (i.e., recycle bins, refuse cans, debris boxes) utilized for the <br />storage and/or transport of waste are cleaned on an as -needed basis, <br />usually to remove accumulated dust and dirt. Constant monitoring of <br />containers by facility personnel allow the operator to ensure that all of <br />the containers are cleaned to prevent the creation of nuisances and <br />the harborage of vectors. <br />3.1.2.3 HOUSEKEEPING <br />In accordance with 14 CCR, Section 17416.1, general housekeeping is <br />conducted at the facility to minimize the accumulation of materials (i.e., <br />used parts, inoperable equipment, tires, scrap and similar items) <br />inherent in the operation of a transfer station. Housekeeping activities <br />are conducted on a continual basis by station personnel. <br />3.1.3 NON -SALVAGEABLE ITEMS <br />In accordance with 14 CCR, Section 17408.4, drugs, cosmetics, foods, <br />beverages, hazardous wastes, poisons, medical wastes, syringes, <br />needles, pesticides and other materials capable of causing public <br />health or safety problems are not salvaged at the CVWS unless <br />approved by the LEA. <br />3.1.4 SCAVENGING AND SALVAGING <br />Scavenging is prohibited at the CVWS in accordance with 14 CCR, <br />Section 17409.3(a).
