Mercury lamps will be placed in appropriate size boxes, neatly stacked to prevent breakage. Broken lamps will be placed in a 5 gallon bucket. Batteries will be sorted by type and placed in drums or 5 gallon buckets Mercury devices (thermometers, thermostats) will be placed in 5 gallon buckets. All containers of Universal Wastes from collection events or loadcheck acceptance will be appropriately labeled with the generator name and information, the proper Universal Waste shipping name, and the accumulation date. All Universal Wastes will be shipped to an approved recycling facility. The current Universal Waste contractor for recycling and collection events is Onsite Electronics Recycling. In the event that CVWS changes/adds a Universal Waste contractor, the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department will be notified within 30 days. The CVWS also manages Treated Wood Wastes (TWW) received via loadcheck activities which are subject to the DTSC alternative management standards Currently the facility does not accept directly from the public but may choose to do so in the future. TWW management will meet the following requirements. • Obtaining an identification number if more than 10,000 pounds of TWW is generated. • Maintaining records of shipments of TWW and reporting in compliance with 22 CCR 67386.8. • Labeling TWW in compliance with 22 CCR 67386.5. • Storing TWW in compliance with 22 CCR 67386.6. • Training of employees handling TWW in compliance with 22 CCR 67386.12 and/or of employees performing re -sizing of TWW for transportation purposes in compliance with 22 CCR 67386.10 (d); • Disposal of TWW to land only at a Class I hazardous waste landfill or a solid waste landfill unit that meets the requirements of 22 CCR 67386.11.
