KLEINF-EL DER
Bright People.Right Solutions.
Overall, the project is not expected to require an increased demand for fire protection
services such that new or expanded Fire Department facilities would be required.
However, the developer would be required to contribute Public Facility Fees toward the
Iconstruction of new firefighting facilities.
Level of Significance: Potentially significant
Mitigation Measures:
1. The ODS shall pay Public Facility Fees to defray capital facilities costs
associated with expanding fire protection services.
2. The ODS shall incorporate access, water supply and other fire suppression
and emergency access/response needs in the proposed project design.
3. The ODS shall install fire hydrants and water distribution facilities that will
provide fire flows that are adequate to support the City's existing ISO rating
and that conform to adopted Building Code Fire Safety Standards for all of the
uses proposed within the project area.
Project Effects on Police Protection
Redevelopment of the project site would not add any substantial additional
responsibilities to the Police Department. The project proposes a consolidation of
existing recycling facilities in the City onto one site. The project proposes to operate 24-
hours a day and maintain an on-going physical presents on site. If for any reason the
project does close, it will provide private on-site security. The project does not purchase
any non-ferrous material. All potential valuable materials will be kept within the
proposed warehouse on site. The project is not expected to require an increased
demand for police protection services such that new or expanded Police Department
facilities would be required. However, the developer would be required to contribute
Public Facility Fees toward the construction of new police facilities.
Project construction would, through the location of construction materials and
equipment on the unoccupied site, involve new crime opportunities during the
construction period. Crime opportunities within areas of new development can be
minimized by proper project design. Adequate emergency access onto the project site
would be essential for responding to calls for service. These issues are addressed by
the mitigation measures below.
Level of Significance: Potentially significant
Mitigation Measures:
121339/ST011 R226 3-55 October 14, 2011
Copyright 2011 Kleinfelder
