C <br />Vinyl Chloride <br />Vinyl chloride is a colorless gas with a sweet odor. <br />Short-term exposure to vinyl chloride can cause dizziness, light- <br />headedness,, nausea, dullness of visual and auditory responses, <br />drowsiness, and unconsciousness. Irritation of the skin and eyes <br />can also occur. Skin contact with the liquid can cause frostbite. <br />Vinyl chloride is classified by the U.S. Environmental Protection <br />Agency as a Group A human carcinogen. <br />The PEL for vinyl chloride is 1 ppm in air. <br />60 <br />
