XI. TEMPORARY HEATING DEVICES <br />A. All boilers, stoves, and other temporary heating apparatus shall be installed <br />and operated in accordance with applicable National Fire Codes. <br />B. When heaters are used in confined space, special care shall be taken to <br />provide sufficient ventilation in order to endure proper combustion, <br />maintain health and safety, and limit temperature rise in the area. <br />1. Safe operating procedures for temporary heating devices shall be <br />established to assure the following controls: <br />2. Heaters shall rest on suitable insulating materials and shall not be <br />set directly on combustible materials. <br />3. Safe clearance from combustible material. <br />4. Close surveillance — Salamanders and similar open flame heaters <br />without an automatic shutoff device shall be attended to at all <br />times. Other types of heathers shall be checked periodically to <br />ensure proper operation. <br />5. Safe fuel storage and refueling. <br />6. Proper maintenance. <br />XII. PAINT AND PAINTING <br />A. Containers of paint, varnish, lacquer or other volatile paining materials shall <br />be kept tightly closed when not in actual use and stored in accordance with <br />the Nation Fire Codes. <br />B. Paint materials in quantities other than required for daily use may be stored <br />in a flammable materials storage cabinet, or outside the building in a well - <br />ventilated location. <br />C. No smoking or open flames, exposed heating elements or other sources of <br />ignition of any kind are to be permitted in areas of rooms where spray <br />painting is done. <br />D.
