(In parking area in front of office <br />trailer) <br />TYPES OF FIRE EQUIPMENT OF SYSTEMS <br />Fire Extinguishers <br />Fire Suppression Systems <br />Portable Pumps <br />Water Trucks <br />Earth Moving Equipment <br />Articulated Trucks <br />Loaders <br />Bulldozers <br />Graders <br />The following equipment and systems have been installed at Forward Landfill to prevent <br />and control accidental ignition of combustible materials. <br />• Fire extinguishers receive a daily visual check to see If charged by landfill <br />inspector, Fernando Olivares. If fire extinguishers are discharged or used, they ars <br />sent to the maintenance trailer. A vendor will be called out to recharge <br />extinguishers. <br />• Annual fire inspection by Manteca -Lathrop Fire Department. <br />• A dirt supply is kept near working face area to smother a potential fire. If a soil <br />pile catches fire, try to contain the fire by placing dirt on the fire. If the fire is out <br />of control, let it bun. The firebreak should contain fire, <br />• One water truck is available as backup. <br />• Emergency water hook-up for fire truck is located at the SE corner of Forward <br />Landfill, north side of Little John Creek. Cover by a red box with wording "FIRE". <br />Cut off locks for quick access. Water supply is from the main pump to 4 3/2" fire <br />thread hook up. Main pump is a free flow system, not a pressure system. Turn <br />selector knob on the main pump to hand position and push start button to activate <br />the pump. <br />• Emergency water hookup for fire truck Is located at NW corner of D93. Water <br />supply is from the main pump located at Landfill entrance. Ten inch PVC pipe runs <br />from main pump to 4 1/2 " fire thread hookup. Main pump is a free flow system, <br />not a pressure system. Turn selector knob on the main pump to hand position and <br />push start button to activate pump. <br />Knox box outside landfill main gate contains keys to main gate, landfill office, R&R office, <br />and firebox for Fire Department emergency use, per their request. <br />3/17/2011 <br />
