f <br /> INDEPENDENT TRUCKING COMPANY, INC. <br /> EXPANSION OF THE EXISTING RECYCLING FACILITY <br /> INITIAL STUDY <br /> ATTACHMENT TO INITIAL STUDY <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> Independent Trucking Company, Inc. (Independent Trucking) is an existing recycling facility. <br /> The existing facilities and operations, and those proposed for expansion, are described in detail <br /> in the Report of Station Information prepared in June, 1996 by Condor Earth Technologies, Inc. <br /> Portions of that report are hereby incorporated, and modified when appropriate, to provide <br /> supporting information to the Initial Study prepared for the City of Stockton Community <br /> Development Department. Bold text in this attachment refer to topic headings in the Initial <br /> Study. <br /> A. Project Description <br /> 1. General description of project: <br /> The recycling operations at 401 S. Lincoln are wholly owned and operated by <br /> Independent Trucking Co., Inc., which is a subsidiary of Delta Container Corporation. <br /> Independent Trucking has been in operation at this location since 1935, and became a <br /> state certified recycling facility and processing center in 1978, operating under Solid <br /> Waste Facilities Permit No. 39-AA-016. <br /> 3. Operational characteristics: <br /> Describe the Basic Operation: Independent Trucking receives recyclable materials from <br /> commercial, residential, industrial, construction, and demolition types of customers. <br /> Materials processed at Independent Trucking are predominantly source-separated <br /> materials retrieved from the typical municipal waste stream. <br /> Materials Received: Recyclable materials that are commonly processed by Independent <br /> Trucking are aluminum and bi-metal cans, California Redemption glass and mixed glass, <br /> all grades of cardboard and paper, and all categories of plastics. Wood and concrete and <br /> other miscellaneous recyclable materials are accepted, if special arrangements are made. <br /> Non-recyclable materials that arrive at Independent Trucking as a result of the recycling <br /> operation account for less than two percent of the materials received and are stored on- <br /> site for a maximum of 48 hours. <br /> Types of Materials Not Received: Materials that are not accepted, stored, or processed <br /> at Independent Trucking include: high liquid content wastes, sludges, contaminated soils, <br /> hazardous wastes, paints, pesticides, etc., including any material that is deemed <br /> unacceptable by Independent Trucking management. <br />
