Attachment to Initial Study
Independent Trucking Company,Inc.
June 5, 1996
Page 4
represented less than 2% of the entire tonnage handled by this facility, in 1995.
Independent Trucking has associate companies that provide waste hauling and landfill
services.
Storm Drains/Sanitary Sewer: Five drainage inlets are located on the Existing
Processing Area. These drainage inlets have served to maintain adequate site drainage
since operation of this facility began.
Four additional drainage inlets are planned for the Proposed Expansion For Processing
Area. Information of surface drainage and runoff control are provided for the proposed
project expansion.
5. Access to Major Roads:
Access to Independent Trucking is from Lincoln Street, an urban four lane street with
double yellow line striping. There are no designated left hand turning lanes on any of
the streets that surround the site. Direct routes to Lincoln Street are Charter Way to the
south, which connects to Highway 99 and Interstate 5, and Weber Avenue to the north,
which leads to downtown Stockton. The waste generation areas served by the facility
are interspersed throughout San Joaquin County.
Customer Parking: Customer parking is available on all four streets surrounding
Independent Trucking.
Loading Areas: Loading of product onto trucks occurs inside the Lincoln Street and
Sonora Street gates, south of the gate on Harrison Street and east of the gate on Sonora
Street, as shown in the site plan.
Loading and unloading will also take place on the 0.59 acre Proposed Expansion For
Processing area.
Traffic Stacking: During current peak periods, a maximum of three large delivery
vehicles and five small delivery vehicles, including pedestrians, will line up to be
weighed and unloaded. Pedestrian waiting occurs on the sidewalk. Truck waiting occurs
along the street edge next to Independent Trucking. Neither the large nor small
deliveries during peak waiting periods have caused any injuries or accidents, and there
have not been any complaints registered with Independent Trucking staff, relative to
waiting or traffic. Visible traffic problems are not evident during current operating
hours.
