Love'.ace Transfer Station
14 CCR 17557 Station Maintenance Program
During this inspection the following items were observed:
* Erosion at the south wall of the retention pond had occurred. (The operator corrected
this problem during the inspection) .
* Ponding water was observed at the public tipping area due to faulty drainage devices.
* The asphalt surface was damaged at the public tipping area, creating uncleanable
surfaces.
Pursuant to this section, the operator shall frequently monitor and properly repair or
correct deteriorated or defective conditions with respect to requirements of these standards
and conditions established by the Enforcement Agency or other approving agencies.
Summary: General site operations were good, although it appears that this facility has
served its useful purpose. The facility is in the state of deterioration and in need of
repair. It does not appear feasible to spend additional monies to cosmetically repair this
site, rather than spending those monies to construct a new, improved transfer station.
Further, the tipping area, particularly for the commercial haulers, appears to be
constricted. SJCDPW plans to start construction (summer 1994) of a new 15 acre facility at
this location once a permit revision for the transfer station is obtained.
Associate Waste Management Specialist!
