0 <br />Depending on the cost associated with handling the prohibited material, the customer <br />may be contacted by telephone by the site foreman and informed that the customer is <br />responsible for proper disposal of prohibited waste and that the customer may return to <br />the site within 48 hours and remove such waste from the site. If the prohibited material <br />can be accepted at another County facility such as the North County Recycling Center or <br />the Household Hazardous Waste Consolidation Facility, the customer will be informed <br />of these options. Otherwise, the customer is referred to the San Joaquin County <br />Environmental Department to obtain information on proper disposal of the materials. <br />If the customer does not return to the site and remove the prohibited waste, the customer <br />is contacted again and told that the County will have a licensed hazardous waste hauler <br />remove the materials from the site and dispose of the material at a licensed facility and <br />that the customer will be billed for the cost of disposal. <br />If the waste is a spill, or is not containerized such that it may be transported, transfer <br />station workers will mark off the area with traffic cones and divert unloading operations <br />away from that area. The customer is contacted by the site foreman and informed of the <br />situation. Since the waste may not be transported except by a licensed hazardous waste <br />hauler, the customer is informed that he will be billed for removal and disposal costs. <br />The incident is recorded in the load checker's log and the site incident log, and the site <br />foreman then follows the procedures in "Procedures for Handling Identified Hazardous <br />Waste. <br />If the customer denies responsibility for the waste, then Step C (below) will be followed. <br />Also, the site foreman will report the incident to the Solid Waste Officer for <br />investigation and follow up. <br />C.
