Containers (i.e., recycle bins, refuse cans, debris boxes) utilized for the storage and/or transport of
<br />waste are cleaned on an as -needed basis, usually to remove accumulated dust and dirt. Constant
<br />monitoring of containers by facility personnel allow the operator to ensure that all of the
<br />containers are cleaned to prevent the creation of nuisances and the harborage of vectors.

<br />3�3 3.1.2 NON -SALVAGEABLE ITEMS

<br />Non -salvageable solid waste is transferred to a landfill for disposal. Other non -salvageable items
<br />that cannot be disposed in the landfill, such as drugs, hazardous wastes, poisons, medical wastes,
<br />syringes, needles, pesticides are retained on site temporarily, then transferred to a facility
<br />permitted to receive these items. Many of these items are transferred to the San Joaquin County
<br />Household Hazardous Waste Center in Stockton.
<br />. 3.1.3 SCAVENGING AND SALVAGING
<br />Seavenging is prohibited at the LNIRF&T-S in aeeor-danee with 14 GGR, Seetien 17409.3 (a)
<br />H^wevef, s Salvaging operations including collection of recyclable materials (e.g., including
<br />corrugated paper, mixed paper, newspaper, plastics, aluminum, ferrous metal, green materials and
<br />glass) is performed in the MRF by County personnel.
<br />Scavenging is prohibited at the LTS.
<br />The LN4RF&TS is designed to accept and process commercial, industrial, and household self -haul
<br />refuse material, including garbage, trash, and recyclable materials such as yard waste, wood
<br />waste, construction/demolition waste, agricultural waste, commingled recyclables, electronic
<br />waste such as televisions computers and copy machines, white goods such as refrigerators,
<br />freezers and air conditioning units, tires, agricultural pesticide containers, and household
<br />hazardous waste. In the future, other materials may be added to the recyclable stream based on
<br />emerging new State of California requirements.
<br />Commingled recyclable material is deposited on the MRF tipping floor either from the
<br />commercial side or the self haul side. Upon reaching the tipping floor, materials which are hand
<br />sorted will be pushed by a loader to recycling bins located beneath a "Z" wall at the south end of
<br />Lovelace MRF and Transfer Station Department of Public Works/Solid Waste Division
