2.2.2 Transfer Station
As shown on Figure 3, the transfer station is located at the southern
end of the storage/maintenance building and is relatively isolated
from other site facilities and from surrounding structures. The cur-
rent area devoted to transfer operations is approximately 2,250 square
feet. To accommodate the additional tipping area, storage area, and
equipment necessary to manage increased waste flow at the site, the
transfer area will have to be modified and expanded. The proposed
changes are discussed in Section 3.
2.2.3 Site Utilities
Potable water at the site is supplied from a city of Stockton water
main. The site is also served with a sanitary sewer line from the
city system and with electricity from overhead service along Navy
Drive. Current drainage from the majority of the site is routed into
several individual catch basins and consolidated in a stormwater col-
lection sump in the southwestern corner of the site. Improvements to
the existing storm drainage system are currently being designed. The
objective of these improvements is to separate oil and grit present in
runoff from the collection vehicle parking area from the stormwater
discharge leaving the site. Similar improvements are being planned
for improving the quality of wastewater discharged to the sanitary
sewer system from the truck/container washing area.
PJ1 1741802.00D 8
