E
11
SUX%4RY OF GUEDELUM: The compost shall be made from organic feedstocks and composted
for sufficient time and temperature to reduce to very low levels the viability of any weed seeds and plant
or human pathogens present. The compost shall not contain agriculturally or environmentally
unacceptable levels of contaminants such as plastic, broken glass, and trace metals. Additional
information shall be provided to assist in the evaluation of agricultural suitability. To aid in determining
agricultural value, the following information will be provided to the compost user: Wisture content,
particle size, bulk density, organic matter content, salinity, pH, and total nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P),
and Potassium (K) content.
k -f ti D144 1:1 Cog zi Die ji 1'.4 Njj I RNW
1. Material shall be composted for a sufficient time and at a sufficiently high temperature to render
most weed seeds inviable (essentially nil), and to achieve pathogen reduction. Minimum time
and temperature are described in California Integrated Waste Management Board composting
operations regulatory requirements.
2. Trace element concentrations in the finished product shall meet standards shown in Table 1.
Upon request trace metal analysis will be disclosed to potential users.
3. The compost producer shall implement a quality control program to minimize contaminants in
the compost products. Acceptable or minimum allowable levels of contaminants have not been
established at this time.
4. The compost producer will allow implementing organization representatives, and may allow
prospective users, to inspect production facilities and obtain representative samples for laboratory
analysis. Inspection and sampling shall be by prior arrangement and under the supervision of the
compost producer. Standard methods of analysis will be identified and/or developed.
17W. =%* 4 m7m;lel I F. 6=4 (MI-110)II01k) 0 0 1 -
: t OREM • • tis o I - • -
E
