WASTE QUANTITIES
Up to 18 cubic yards per week of tomato waste will be used for
feeding up to 14 head of cattle. The usable area is
approximately 10 acres. This equates to 1.8 cubic yards per acre
per week.
Up to 40 cubic yards per day of tomato mud will be spread over
approximately 11 acres of land. This equates to 3 .6 cubic yards of
tomato mud per acre per day.
OPERATION PLAN
Tomato Waste will be deposited on the ground in the feeding area
as indicated on the site Plan, Figure 1 from July to November.
The waste will be eaten by the cattle within 48 hours.
Odors and vectors will be controlled by the rapid (48 hour)
turnaround of the waste.
The tomato mud will be spread on the ground and allowed to dry by
evaporation.
The site is enclosed by barbed wire and chain link fencing.
Entrance to the site is through the Tracy Material Recovery and
Transfer Facility. The gates to the site are locked each night.
Access by unauthorized personnel is not allowed.
Since the operation will be conducted only during the dry season
from July to November, there will not be a need for an
alternative site.
