Tracy MRF & TS maintains an onsite vehicle and equipment
repair shop for regular maintenance and emergency repairs of equipment and
vehicles. Additionally, Tracy MRF & TS maintains good relationships with local
heavy equipment vendors. These vendors have technicians and parts available
at their service centers and provide leasing of replacement equipment if repairs
cannot be made in a timely manner.
Personnel Health and Safety [14 CCR 17408.7]
Safety equipment is available and accessible to all site personnel and customers.
Eye washes and first-aid kits are located in the MRF/TS building and
maintenance/office building for quick treatment. Workers are equipped with
appropriate safety clothing, including gloves, hard hats, ear protection, and
goggles. Where appropriate, additional specialty clothing is provided, such as
international orange vests or aprons for sorters.
The facility maintains an Illness and Injury Prevention Plan, which is included in
Appendix H.
Protection of Users [14 CCR 17408.8]
Debris transfer truck and collection truck drivers will be regulars who are trained
and familiar with the site. A 6-foot high, slatted chain link fence with two gates
that is locked, when it is not in use, surrounds the facility. The general public will
have limited access to the facility's Inert Operations Area and C&D Operations
Area for delivery of self-haul loads. Appropriate, visible signage, traffic cones,
and instruction by the site attendant will direct vehicles to the Inert Operations
Area or C&D Operations Area tipping pads, as appropriate.
Pile heights are limited to 25 feet for inerts and 20 feet for C&D debris to more
readily manage materials, and facilitate safe handling of materials with onsite
equipment and minimize risk to public, drivers and onsite personnel. Site
personnel will monitor and maintain pile construction to prevent potential hazards
due to unstable or poorly configured piles.
Roads [14 CCR 17409.1]
The roads are located on paved asphalt concrete or concrete pad and are
accessible year round and for all types of weather. A daily site walk by facility
personnel focuses on ensuring that the entry and driveway are free of debris and
a clean appearance maintained.
Sanitary Facilities [14 CCR 17409.2]
Employee restroom facilities are available in the MRF/TS building and the
Maintenance/Office building.
