A. Except as provided in Section 6-B herein, all organic <br /> wastes, animal and bird manure, or food processing waste, <br /> shall be removed at least once every seven (7) days, utilizing <br /> one or more of the following methods: <br /> (1) Removal from the premises and disposal by burial <br /> in an approved sanitary land fill. (Section 147). <br /> (a) Removal from the premises and disposal by thin spreading' <br /> • upon land areas as fertilizer, in such manner as <br /> to avoid creation of a nuisance. <br /> (3) Removal to'orchard or other specialized farming land <br /> and discing into the soil on the same day as deposited. <br /> (4) Composting in such manner as to avoid odor and fly or <br /> rodent breeding. Methods may include the use of silos, <br /> compost pits, neoprene covers, . concrete bunkers (with <br /> screening), or other methods meeting the intent of the <br /> Ordinance. <br /> (3) Ponding or Lagoonings Ponding or lagooning may be <br /> utilized in such manner as to prevent the creation of <br /> nuisance and odors. In all such ponds or lagoons, there <br /> shall be sufficient capacity to result in complete <br /> reduction of solids. All effluent must be contained <br /> within the property by an approved method. Should <br /> effluents be introduced into other receiving waters, <br /> all such waters must meet standards of the Water <br /> Quality Control Board. <br /> When ponding or lagooning is used for manure disposal, <br /> the following information shall be provided,. if requested. <br /> by the District Health Officers <br /> a. Location of pond in relation to domestic water supply <br /> b. Size and depth of pond(s) <br /> c. Type of pond, i.e. , anaerobic, aerobic, etc. <br /> d. Depth from ground level to water table <br /> e. Method and location of manure injection in to pond <br /> f. Method and schedule of algae control <br /> g. Provisions for alternate method of control during <br /> shut-down for renovation of ponds, i.e. , regrading, <br /> cleanout, enlarging, etc. <br /> h. Treatment of ponds to preclude mosquito breeding. <br /> i. General weed' and berm maintenance. <br /> -4- <br />
