site. <br /> Other Sources of Possible Odors Produced On-Site Other Than Manure: <br /> Eggs: The waste eggs(cracked,chipped, blood spots,etc.)from the packing plant are <br /> dumped into 55 gallon barrels labeled inedible. At this point SKS will develop a pilot <br /> program for inedible eggs to be dumped into the composting house to be processed. <br /> Solid Waste:All solid waste generated within the facility is put in an 8'X 16"X 6" <br /> trailer and hauled to North County Landfill,Harney Lane by S.K.S. employees <br /> approximately 2 times a week. <br /> Feed: If feed is spilled a ranch employee will sweep up the spill.At this point the ranch <br /> supervisor will decide if feed is clean it will be fed to the birds. If feed is dirty it will be <br /> spread into the manure for composting. <br /> Bird Mortality: S.K.S. has about a 5% mortality rate.The birds are incinerated. If large <br /> amounts of birds need to be disposed of, S.K.S. has an agreement with North County <br /> Landfill, 17900 E. Harney Lane for disposal of the carcasses. <br /> Septic Systems: There are 14 domestic septic systems on-site. They are located by the <br /> residences,the processing plant,and any house that has a bathroom associated with it. <br /> These systems are for human waste only. They are underground and pumped out as <br /> needed by a commercial septic company. <br /> CLIMATE CONDITIONS <br /> Climate <br /> San Joaquin County is characterized by hot dry summers and cool moist winters. <br /> There is a high pressure area offshore that reduces the weather systems from entering <br /> this area during the summer months. In the winter months the high pressure shifts <br /> southward whereby allowing weather systems to enter this area producing moist cool <br /> weather and frequent heavy fogs. The average annual precipitation consists of <br /> approximately 17 inches per year, and usually occurs from the months of October <br /> through May. The cool moist Pacific winds enter the county through the Carquinez <br /> Straight gap. <br /> 5 <br />
