Tri-Valley Growers <br /> Tri-Valley Growers cannery waste site is located on the corner of <br /> xile Rd and Interstate 5 in Thornton. This site consists of 20 <br /> acres and the groundwater depth is approximately at 20 feet. <br /> This is a contingency site for Tri-Valley Growers in which they <br /> plan to spread and disc discarded tomatoes and residue from a <br /> tomato processing plant. The rate of permitted spreading is <br /> 250 tons/acre. <br /> The site is open from July through October. The land is <br /> presently being used for percolation of plant effluent. The acreage <br /> can be spared without jeopardizing the program of irrigating <br /> processing effluent to the land. The site has been open since 1988 <br /> and has not yet been utilized. <br /> The recommendation is that this site be exempted from a State <br /> Solid Waste Permit, and be under jurisdiction and inspection of a <br /> County Environmental Health Permit. <br /> 3 . F. & W. Cattle # 2 <br /> F. & W. Cattle site J 2 is located on Wimer Road Ranch off of <br /> Shelton Rd on the eastern county border nine miles east of Linden <br /> off of Highway 26. This site consists of 300 acres and the <br /> groundwater depth is approximately at 130 feet. This site receives <br /> waste of tomatoes, vines, peaches, mud, coffee grounds, apricots, <br /> etc. . . <br /> They have estimated approximately 250 cubic yards of product are <br /> received at the site during a 24 hour day to be utilized for <br /> nitrogen soil enrichment by means of the spread and disc method. <br /> There was limited amount of cannery waste at this site during the <br /> 1990 season, their first year of operation. This site receives peach and tomato <br /> wastes and is incorporated into the soil by the spread and disc <br /> method. The permitted spreading rate is 75 - 80 tons/day. <br /> This site has been in operation since 1988, and has received <br /> very little waste during the past three years.
