Musco Family Olive Compano - 2 - 30 January 2008
east of Hansen Road. Musco may consider additional data from its well K-1 also. Any
data relating to the groundwater at the Musco Facility should be included in the Phase II
Well Installation Report due on 15 July 2008.
2. Well Cluster #2 is being proposed to compare TDS concentrations offsite to those in
well MW-17 and proposed well cluster#1. The proposed well further northeast
identified as Canal Influence is intended to monitor groundwater further away from the
canal system.
Staff agrees with these locations. Staff understands that well cluster #2 may be
installed as a shallow and deep well cluster depending on depth to first encountered
groundwater. Staff requests an additional shallow well be installed southeast of well
cluster#2, south of the Safeway distribution warehouse and downgradient of the swale.
This well location will provide better triangulation in the shallow zone and also provide
additional water quality information downgradient of the Swale.
3. Well cluster#3 is being proposed between wells MW-16 and MW-4 to better
characterize depth to groundwater and water quality in this area. Musco proposes a
shallow well will be installed at this location.
Staff agrees with the proposed location but requests Musco install a well at first
encountered groundwater if shallow groundwater is not encountered. If groundwater is
encountered deeper in the boring, Musco should construct a well.
4. Well cluster#4 is being proposed between the locations of wells MW-4 and MW-8 to
improve the understanding of the occurrence of groundwater and the spatial distribution
of sand and clay materials.
Staff agrees with the proposed boring location but recommends that Musco construct a
well at first encountered groundwater to better characterize groundwater quality and
flow through this area.
5. Deep well #5 is being proposed to assess the nature and extent of elevated TDS
concentrations in groundwater at the northern boundary of the site.
Staff agrees with this location and Musco is proposing to install this well in first
encountered groundwater, shallow or deep. If shallow groundwater is encountered,
Musco should consider advancing a boring to deep groundwater and construct a
second well.
Staff reminds Musco the Phase I Groundwater Investigation Report and Work Plan for the
Phase 11 Groundwater Investigation report is due 15 February 2008.
