The site inspection was a follow up to staff's fall 2006 site
inspection. The purpose of the inspection was to observe the conditions of the Title 27 Class
II Surface Impoundments, the spray fields, and the newly installed tailwater and erosion
controls.
The Title 27 Class II Surface Impoundments were in good operating order based on a visual
inspection. The Discharger has installed several, fixed tailwater boxes fitted with pumps to
return wastewater to the Reservoir. At the time of the inspection, the boxes were maintained.
Erosion due to spray application practices continues to cause severe damage to Musco fields.
The Discharger has installed runoff control measures (i.e. straw waddle) along contours of
Field 55 west and Field 95. The Discharger has made some progress in the uplands area to
control runoff and sedimentation, however, runoff control measures were not installed on the
other spray application fields. The Discharger must continue to improve runoff conditions
associated with all spray application fields.
If you have any questions please call me at (916) 464-4737.
Todd A. el Frate
Engineering Geologist
Waste Discharge to Land Unit
Lower San Joaquin River Watershed
Enclosure(s) Inspection Report
cc,.
