Musco Family Olive Com - 6 - 27 July 2006
R5-2005-0024. If ground water recovers over time, the Discharger is required to collect
ground water samples and analyze for the constituents of concern as required in MRP
R5-2005-0024.
3. Well MW-17 appears to be located crossgradient to shallow ground water flow. This
well alone does not meet the specifications of the DMP. The Discharger is required to
install at least two more wells, one up-gradient and one downgradient, to comply with
Title 27 and the DMP. These wells should be installed in the vicinity of well MW-11 and
MW-12 to monitor water quality beneath the surface impoundments. The Discharger is
required to construct the additional wells in accordance with ASTM, DWR, and Title 27
Monitoring Well Performance Standards.
4. Well MW-12 was installed as a deep point of compliance well downgradient of the
surface impoundments. It is located in the vicinity of the northeast corner of Pond B.
Well MW-18 was installed to monitor deep ground water upgradient of the surface
impoundments and is located in the vicinity of southwest corner of Pond B. To comply
with the DMP, a third deep well is needed near the northwest corner of Pond A to
monitor water quality downgradient of Pond A. The Discharger is required to install one
additional ground water monitoring well in the area discussed above to monitor the
lower water bearing zone.
5. Wells MW-12 and MW-18 have penetrated a higher conductivity gravel zone as
indicated on the borings logs. Both boring logs identified this zone as "wet." According
to Title 27, section 20415(B)5 listed above, the Discharger is required to install a
sufficient number of wells to monitor the zone of highest hydraulic conductivity identified
in boring logs MW-12 and MW-18. These wells should be placed in the vicinity of Well
MW-12, MW-18, and near the northwest corner of Pond A for a total of three wells
monitoring the zone of highest hydraulic conductivity.
6. In accordance with Title 27, section 20415(e)(1), all monitoring systems shall be
designed and certified by a registered geologist or a registered civil engineer. Future
documents concerning the DMP must be signed and stamped by a registered
professional geologist or civil engineer. Documents not signed and stamped by the
appropriate registered professional will be rejected.
TAD/W\San Joaquin\Musco\Letters\Memo_Musco(0606)
