Musco Family Olive Coro ny - 2 - 6 15 June 2006
Lysimeter's beneath the surface impoundments are used to monitor the unsaturated zone as
part of the detection monitoring program. Based on previous monitoring reports submitted on
behalf of Musco, water has been detected in a number of lysimeters associated with the
surface impoundments. In addition, Musco reported water in the LCRS sump of Pond B in
March 2005. Board staff recommend Musco thoroughly evaluate the proposed method of leak
detection and compare the method to standard industry practices. Based on the findings, this
evaluation and comparison should lead to a recommendation of a definitive plan for testing the
LCRS annually as required by WDRs No. R5-2005-0024.
If you have any questions, you may call me at (916) 464-4737.
7?
Todd A.
