I
' 17 June 2002
AGE-NC Project No 99-0559
' 1999,andlnterim Remediation and Site Assessment WorkPlan, date 25 January2001,both prepared
by AGE
' Between 20 and 23 February 2002, ground water monitoring and sampling were performed on the
twenty-four ground water monitoring wells at the site (MW-1 through MW-4, MW-5A through
MW5-E, MW-6A through MW-6E, MW-7A through MW-7E and MW-8A through MW-8E)
I
2 1 WELL MONITORING AND EVACUATION
' On 20 February 2002, depth to ground water was measured in wells MW-1 through MW-SE from
the tops of the well casings to the nearest 0 01-foot utilizing a Slope water level mete, however, due
' to an error in the monitoring sequence of the multi-level wells, the well chambers screened between
90 and 100 feet were not monitored The depth to ground water was measured in wells MW-1
through MW-8 again on 05 March 2002, ground water elevations and gradients in this report are
Ibased on the March 2002 depth measurements
' • On 21, 22 and 23 February 2002, approximately 5 to 5 5 gallons of ground water (a minimum of
three casing water-volumes per well)were removed from wells MW-1,MW-3 and MW-4 utilizing
disposable polyethylene bailers, at the direction of EHD,monitoring well MW-2 was not purged
' or sampled due to the presence of free product The well chambers of the multi-level monitoring
wells MW-5 through MW-8 were purged by lowering and raising a 3/8-inch outer diameter,length-
discrete polyethylene hose equipped with a ball-valve water tip through the top chambers into the
' specific water-charged screened section Approximately 0 5 to 4 5 gallons of ground water (a
minimum of three casing-water volumes per well) were removed from the multi-level monitoring
wells
ITemperature,pH and conductivity were measured for stabilization at regular purge-volume intervals
using an Oakton water analyzer Field data and logs are included with Appendix B Purged ground
' water was containerized in 55-gallon drums and was stored on-site in an area lacking general public
access
I2 2 COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
IPrior to ground water sampling, the ground water level of wells MW-1, MW-3, MW-4, MW-5C
through MW-5E, MW-6C, MW-6E, MW-7C through MW -E and MW-8C through MW-8E was
measured to insure that the wells achieved a mimmum of 80 percent recharge prior to sample
collection Following measurement, round water samples were collected from purged wells MW-1,
MW-3 and MW-4 utilizing disposable polyethylene bailers, ground water samples were collected
Advanced Geo E nviron mental,Inc
