t f 1.0 INTRODUCTION The following Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report (PIER) outlines ETS ENVIRONMENTAL's investigation of soil and groundwater contamination at Stockton U-Haul (Site) , 2701 North Wilson Way, Stockton, California. This report was required by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (County) , and was completed by ETS ENVIRONMENTAL (ETS) at the request of the U-Haul Corporation. 1 Three moni---oring wells have been installed at the Site, by ETS, in July of 1991. The site is a moving equipment rental company. t In July of 1990, four underground storage tanks (USTs) were removed from the Site. Three of the tanks were used for gasoline storage, and the fourth was used to contain waste oil. Upon removal of the UST's and associated product lines, soil samples were obtained and submitted to a certifiel analytical laboratory for analysis. Laboratory resulia '•s indicated ::he presence of gasoline contaminations in the soil . beneath the UST's, and product lines (See Section 2.1 - Previous Work) . ;1a Based upon the findings from the UST removals, the County required that Stockton U-Haul determine the extent of gasoline contamination at the Site. The U-Haul. Corporation contracted with ETS to initiate an investigation to attempt to define the extent of soil and possible groundwater contamination at the Site. on July 29th and 30th, 1991, ETS installed three monitoring wells at the Site. The monitoring wells were subsequently developed and the groundwater was sampled. Laboratory results from samples obtained during these activities indicated the presence of a plume of gasoline contamination beneath the site, and that shallow groundwater has been impacted by contamination (Section 4.2) . This PIER documents the ETS investigation at the Stockton U-Haul Site, presents all findings, and presents conclusions and recommendations hased on the results. - For a summary of previous and current work conducted at the Site, see Section 2. For a detailed description of field methodology from the investigation, see Section 3. Observations and laboratory results are included in Section �» 4. Finally, conclusions and recommendations are included in Section 5. A site vicinity map is included as Figure 1. A site plan showing the well and boring locations is included as Figure 2.
