BSeS Environmental Management Inc 2nd Qtr 2004 Groundwater Monitoring Report
002-70950-04 U-Haul#709-50
3 0 GROUNDWATER MONITORING PROGRAM
The groundwater monitoring program discussed below includes one monitoring event conducted in May
2004 At the request of SJCEHD, this groundwater monitonng event was coordinated with Ground Zero
Analysts (GZA), the consultant for the Former Harry's Auto Mart site located southeast of the U-Haul
facility Due to unforeseen circumstances, GZA did not perform their quarterly monitoring event on the
agreed upon date GZA did however, dispatch a technician to the Former Harry's Auto Mart site to
collect groundwater level measurements in conjunction with the Blaes technician at the U-
Haul site GZA returned to the former Harry's Auto Mart site on June: 9 and 10, 2004 to conduct their
quarterly groundwater sampling event The measurement and sampling methods employed throughout
the groundwater monitoring event are discussed in the following sections
3 1 GROUNDWATER MEASUREMENTS—MAY 2004
On May 24, 2004, Blaes Environmental measured the depth to groundwater in the 29 groundwater
monitor well casings associated with the U-Haul site Groundwater levels in the well casings were
measured from a surveyed point on the top of the monitoring well casing to the groundwater surface All
water levels were measured to the nearest hundredth of a foot (0 01 ft) using a Heron electronic water-
level sounder The water level depth and time of measurement were recorded on a standard field data
sheet The field data sheets for this monitoring event are included in Appendix A and tabulated with
previous monitoring data to Table 2 Groundwater depth measurements were performed in accordance
with Blaes Environmental groundwater monitoring procedures presented in Appendix B
Groundwater depths recorded on May 24, 2004, ranged from approximately 53 88 feet below top of
casing (btoc) in well MW-7C to approximately 57 14 feet btoc in well MW-6C Groundwater elevations
ranged from approximately 36 19 feet below mean sea level in well MW-7C to approximately 36 58 feet
below mean sea level in well MW-5C (Table 2) Other observations collected during groundwater
monitoring activities are presented on the field data sheet included in Appendix A
I
6
