BIaeS Envtronnzental Manageuierrt Inc U-Haul#i709 50 <br /> 002-70950 03 <br /> Work Plan <br /> 11/8/01 <br /> screened interval that spans across the upper "A" and middle "B"casing intervals As a result, these wells <br /> will be referred to as "A"casing wells <br /> Groundwater sample collection will involve purging at least three well volumes of groundwater from the <br /> wells and allowing the wells to equilibrate before sample collection Bailing will be used to purge water <br /> from the "A" and "B" well casings Pumping will be used to purge water from the lower "C" casings <br /> Purging wells by bailing will involve using a 1 5-inch by 6 5-foot PVC bailer The bailer will be <br /> decontaminated between use using a liquid Alconox® detergent wash, a tap water rinse, and a final rinse <br /> with deionlzed water Purged water from bailing will be transferred from five-gallon buckets to an on- <br /> site 1,000-gallon polyethylene storage tank <br /> Purging by pumping will involve the use of a 1 5-inch diameter Grunfos® submersible pump, new hose, <br /> control box, and generator The pump will typically be set near the middle of the screened interval of the <br /> well to minimize the influx of sediment from the bottom of the well The pump will be decontaminated <br /> between uses as described above The average purge rate during purging will be approximately three <br /> gallons per minute (the maximum flow rate for the pump) Purge water will be temporarily stored in <br /> 55-gallon steel drums and later transferred into the on-site polyethylene tank During purging, periodic <br /> parameter readings will be recorded on the field data sheet (Appendix A) More details of groundwater <br /> purging procedures are presented in Appendix B <br /> The purged groundwater contained in the on-site 1,000-gallon polyethylene tank will be profiled and <br /> properly disposed/treated Disposal/treatment of the contained water will be discussed in the quarterly <br /> reports <br /> 3 2 3 Groundwater Sample Collection <br /> Following purging, groundwater samples will be collected from the monitor wells using a new disposable <br /> polyethylene bailer Prior to sample collection, the depth to groundwater will be measured to confirm <br /> that groundwater recovered to within 90% of the original level The water level measurements, sample <br /> name, time, and sample containers will be recorded on a sample data sheet (Appendix A) In addition to <br /> the groundwater samples collected from the monitor wells, a duplicate sample will be collected from a <br /> selected monitor well Collected groundwater samples will be contained in appropriate sample bottles <br /> supplied by the analytical laboratory Following collection, the groundwater samples will be placed in an <br /> 12 <br />
