BlaeS Environmental Management Lic U Haul#709-50 002-70950-03 Work Plan 11/8/01 and/or pumping each well until relatively clear water can be purged from the well at various depths Blaes Environmental will record well installation activities including final well construction details and well development procedures using forms included in Appendix A Purged groundwater will be stored in an on-site 1,000-gallon polyethylene tank pending waste profiling and disposal 3 2 PLANNED GROUNDWATER MONITORING AND SAMPLING PROGRAM The groundwater monitoring program will include sampling all well casings associated with the site on a quarterly basis through 2002 With the addition of three new monitor wells, the number of possible casings to monitor and sample will be 26 Due to the number of wells, groundwater monitoring and sampling will be performed over a three to four day period The groundwater sampling program will consist of six tasks including I) measuring the depth to static groundwater, 2) measuring the dissolved- oxygen level, 3) purging approximately three casing volumes of water prior to sample collection, 4) groundwater sample collection, 5) analyzing the groundwater sample at an analytical laboratory, and 6)preparing a quarterly report detailing the findings 32 1 Groundwater Monitoring The depth to groundwater at each monitor well will be measured from a reference point (a permanent mark on the top of the uncapped PVC well casing) The depth to groundwater measurements will be to the nearest 0 01-foot using a Solonist®water level indicator The interface probe will be decontaminated prior to and after use at each well with a liquid Alconox® detergent wash, a tap water rinse, and a final rinse with deionized water Water level depth and time of measurements will be recorded on a standard field data sheet(Appendix A) In addition to depth to water measurements, Blaes Environmental will collect a dissolved-oxygen level measurement at each monitor well using the YSI-85 dissolved-oxygen probe The probe will also be decontaminated between measurements The dissolved oxygen level measurements will be recorded on a field data sheet and performed in accordance with the groundwater monitoring procedures (Appendix B) 3 2 2 Groundwater Puruing Groundwater sampling at the site will include sample collection from all possible well casings This will include the upper "A", middle "B", and Iower "C" well casings The proposed new wells will have a 11
