L5-Haul#709-50 81aes Environmental
Additional Site Characterization
3) Determine existing groundwater conditions beneath the site using the new groundwater monitoring
wells, and
4) Re-establish a quarterly groundwater-monitonng program following installation of the new groundwater
monitoring wells
' 1 3 SCOPE OF WORK
The additional site characterization program involved eight tasks including 1) direct-push/cone-
penetrometer sampling of up to six soil bonngs to maximum depth of 126 feet bgs, 2) laboratory analysis of
soil samples collected from the soil borings to determine vertical and lateral extent of hydrocarbons in soil
beneath the site, 3) installation of eight additional groundwater monitonng wells (six of which were installed
adjacent to existing wells with screen intervals below the current groundwater level), 4)development of the
newly installed monitoring wells, 5) Collection of groundwater samples from the new wells, 6)management
of soil and water waste generated during well installation and groundwater sampling activities, 7) laboratory
analysis of collected groundwater samples, and 8) preparation of a report detailing the findings of the
program
14 PROJECT TEAM
The project team consisted of Blaes Environmental of Phoenix, Anzona, Precision Drilling of Richmond,
California, Gregg Drilling, Inc of Signal Hill, California, Kiff Analytical, Inc of Davis, California and
Columbia Analytical Services, Inc (CAS) of Santa Clara, California Blaes Environmental coordinated
and managed the project, performed field measurements, collected, sealed and arranged for proper
' transport of the soil and groundwater samples to the analytical laboratory, and prepared this report
Precision Drilling, Inc provided a portion of the direct-push soil sampling Gregg Drilling Inc provided
a cone-penetrometer ng to collect soil samples at desired depths and a hollow-stem-auger drilling ng for
' additional drilling, soil sampling, and well installation Kiff Analytical provided laboratory analysis of
soil samples collected at the site CAS provided laboratory analysis of groundwater samples collected at
' the site
2
