BACKGROUND INFORMATION <br /> 21 01E LOCATION AND LAND USE <br /> The property is located immediately west of the intersection of Sanguinetti Lane and North Wilson Way in <br /> Stockton, California Amerco/U-Haul owns and occupies the property and currently uses the site as a U- <br />' Haul vehicle/equipment rental and repair shop The site features are shown on Figurd 3 <br /> The site was formerly used as a retail gasoline dispensing facility According to a 1994 SOTA <br /> Environmental Technology, Inc (SOTA) work plan, the site was used as a gasoline retail facility from <br />' approximately 1950 until 1976 In 1976, the site was listed in the Polk directory as "Stockton Moving <br /> Center" From 1976 until 1990, the site was apparently used as a moving equipment rental facility Since <br /> 1990,U-Haul has used the site in its current capacity <br /> 2 2 SURROUNDlXCr LAND USE <br /> The area surrounding the site consists of a mixture of commercial businesses and residential <br /> developments Surrounding land occupants are shown on the vicinity map in Figure 2 The businesses to <br /> the north and south along Wilson Way consists of motels The Stockton Union School District owns the <br /> land to the west and northwest of the site This property is occupied with three office trailers and old <br /> school furniture and equipment The section of this property that borders the U-Haul site to the west <br /> was used for the fueling, parking, and maintenance of the Stockton School District vehicles and <br /> equipment The property to the east (across Wilson Way) is a mixture of commercial businesses behind <br /> which are residential neighborhoods The property southeast of the site, on the southeast corner of <br /> ' Sanguinetti Lane and Wilson Way,was a former gasoline station that does not appear to be in use <br /> ' 2 3 DETECTION OF HY_DROCAR13ON RELEASE <br /> ' According to a 1990 ETS Environmental & Assoc (ETS) report, three fuel underground storage tanks <br /> (USTs), one 250-gallon waste-oil UST, and associated fuel dispensers were removed from the site in 1990 <br /> The three fuel USTs consisted of one 10,000-gallon, one 8,000-gallon, and one 6,000-gallon unleaded and <br /> regular(leaded?)gasoline tanks These tanks are mentioned in order from north to south and were orientated <br /> approximately east-west Upon removal, the tanks were not replaced According to ETS, analytical results <br /> of soil samples collected from beneath the former USTs and associated product lines indicated detectable <br /> concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil The soil sample locations are shown on Figure 4 and a <br /> 3 <br />
