Contaminated water developed from developing and purging the
monitoring wells was stored in 55-gallon drums on site. The drums
' were labeled with the site location, date of accumulation,
contents, and the consultants name and phone number.
' IlYGS
The borings encountered a layer of dark grayish brown to black sand
to a depth of approximately four feet and intermittent layers of
silt, very fine sand and course sand to total depth (Boring Logs) .
' Ground-water was first encountered at a depth of approximately 65
to 70 feet (Boring Logs) .
Hydrocarbon odors were noted in borings B4, B6, and B7 . High levels
' of benzene were also detected with the TIP and OVM in borings B4,
B6, and B7 (Boring Logs) .
' High levels of TPH was detected in soil samples near the capillary
fringe in boring B4 (Table 1) . TPH was also detected in every soil
sample analyzed in boring B7 (Table 1) . TPH was not detected in the
' soil samples obtained from borings B5, B6, and B8 at a detection
limit of . 5 mg/Kg (Table 1) .
BTE&X were detected in the soil sample with the highest
concentration of TPH from boring B4 and B7 (Table 1) . The soil
samples from B5, B6, and B7 were not analyzed for BTE&X.
' Ground-water was measured at a depth of approximately 74 feet in
the monitoring wells. The relative casing elevations, depth to
water and piezometric surface determined from the monitoring well
measurements are recorded in Table 2 . The ground water gradient is
generally flat, less than . 01, to the southwest (Figure 2) .
TPH and BTE&X were detected in each of the ground-water samples and
' in the trip blank (Table 3) . The laboratory reported that the trip
blank and the samples obtained from MW2 , MW3 , MW5, and MW6 had
hydrocarbon patterns not consistent with the standard gasoline fuel
' pattern (Table 3) . BTE&X was not detected in the trip blank at a
detection limit of 1 µg/l.
The laboratory analysis quality control/quality assurance data,
laboratory state certification, and chain of custody are attached.
1
U-HAUL 12701 N WILSON WAY
MIS-93-III I U-HAUL QM4 (5D5020 2)
1 14 JUNE 1993 5
