Contaminated water developed from purging the monitoring wells was
stored in 55 gallon drums on site. The drums were labeled with the
site location, date of accumulation, contents, and the consultants
name and phone number.
A request to identify water wells within a 2 , 000 feet radius of
' the subject site was submitted to the California Department of
Water Resources on 9 October 1992 . It has been noted that the
ground water gradient beneath the subject site has shown seasonal
' reversals. We believe that the cause of this is probably a pumping
well that is located to the north of the subject property. The
obtaining of this data and the confirmation of this phenomenon will
aid us greatly in the placement of future wells and in the design
of a site remediation.
FINDINGS
' Ground water was measured at a depth of approximately 85 to 87 feet
in the monitoring wells. The relative casing elevations, depth to
' water and piezometric surface determined from the monitoring well
measurements are recorded in Table 1. The ground water gradient is
generally flat, less than . 001, to the north (Figure 2) .
TPH was detected at 80, 800 µg/1 and 2 , 200 Ag/1 in the water samples
from MW1 and MW3 , respectively (Table 2) . BTE&X were also detected
in water samples MW1 and MW3 . TPH and BTE&X were not detected, at
a detection limit of . 3 µg/l to . 5 µg/i, in the water samples from
MW2 .
The laboratory analysis and chain of custody are attached. The
quality control/quality assurance data and laboratory state
certification will follow under a seperate cover.
CONCLUSIONS
The ground water gradient has changed from a westerly direction to
a northerly direction. It is not known if this change is seasonal,
due to a nearby water well or a combination of both (Figure 1) .
Monitoring well 2 shows a decrease in TPH and BTE&X concentrations
' over time. The decrease in TPH and BTE&X concentrations over time
is consistent with a natural degradation of these contaminants over
time. However, TPH and BTE&X concentrations in monitoring wells MWl
and MW3 have fluctuated.
The limits of the ground water contaminate and the soil contaminant
plumes have not been determined.
U-HAUL \ 2701 WILSON WAY
MJB-92-11 \ UH-WILSON RPT (SD5020 2)
10 OCTOBER 1992
3
