1 Blaes Enrrranrrrental Management lrrc
002-70950-04 U-Haulit709-50
Groundwater Monitoring Report
1/23/03
The groundwater flow direction in the "C" well casings a appears pp ars to be northwest across the northern
' portion of the site and south across the southern portion of the site (Figure 4) Note that the groundwater
flow directions indicated in Figures 3 and 4 are estimates, as the gradient is nearly flat
In addition to water level depths Blaes Environmental also measured dissolved oxygen levels from
' selected well casings using a YSI-85 dissolved oxygen meter The method for measuring dissolved
oxygen content of groundwater is described in Appendix B The results indicated that dissolved oxygen
1 levels during this monitoring event ranged from 0 5% in wells MW-1B and MW-6B to 13 3% in well
MW-2C (Table 2)
1 3 2 GROUNDWATER SAMPLING—DECEMBER 2002
1 On December 3, 4, and 5, 2002, Blaes Environmental collected 18 groundwater samples from the on-site
and off-site monitoring wells that contained water This includes samples from the "B" and "C" casings
1 only The current groundwater level did not allow for sampling of any of the "A"casing wells
' Groundwater sample collection involved purging approximately three well volumes of groundwater from
each well and allowing the wells to recharge before sample collection Purging was performed during
1 this event either by hand bailing or pumping water from the well casings, dependent on the volume of
water in the well The bailers used for purging during this sampling event were either a 1&7/8-inch
' diameter by 3-foot long bailer, or a 3-inch diameter by 8-foot long bailer Blaes Environmental utilized a
2" Grundfos "Reda-flo" submersible pump for purging by pumping The bailers and pump were
decontaminated before and after purging each well with a liquid detergent wash (Alconox®), a tap water
1 rinse, and a final rinse with de-ionized water Periodic parameter readings were recorded on the field
data sheets included in Appendix A The groundwater purging procedures are presented in Appendix B
1 Purge water was stored in a 1,000-gallon polyethylene tank located on the property, pending proper
recycling and disposal
1
3 2 1 Groundwater Sam le Collection—December 2002
1 Following purging, groundwater samples were collected from both on-site and off-site groundwater wells
using a new polyethylene disposable bailer for each well
1
i6
1
1
