EMPLOYEE TRAINING PROGRAM — The training program includes: <br /> a) methods for safe handling of hazardous materials; <br /> b) procedures for coordination with local emergency response organizations; <br /> c) use of emergency response equipment and supplies under the control of the <br /> handler, and <br /> implementation of the Business Emergency Plan and notification requirements. <br /> d) Proper procedures for storing, handling and labeling hazardous waste <br /> e) Proper use of Emergency Response <br /> f) Instructions in the Written Hazard Communications Program, including reviewing <br /> SDS and safety procedures for material <br /> g) Coordination of emergency action plans with local fire depts, paramedics, and clean <br /> up contractors. <br /> h) Monthly inspection and maintenance of safety equipment (including fire <br /> extinguishers and eye wash stations) <br /> i) Review of the Emergency Action Plan and store management's responsibilities in <br /> the event of an emergency <br /> New AutoZone employees receive on their first day specific training related to all in <br /> house environmental operations including: Used Oil Recycling, Battery Handling, Spill <br /> Response and Clean-Up, hazardous waste, Universal waste, and ewaste. In addition, <br /> they are trained on the Emergency Action Plan and the California Environmental Policy. <br /> Environmental training also includes specifics oh how to dispose of oil filter and the <br /> importance of hazardous waste labels and tank and bucket inspections. Orphan <br /> materials must be handled properly and tagged accordingly. <br /> All AutoZoners participate in the AutoZone Annual Emergency Action Plan Training, <br /> Annual Safety Training, which includes training specific to handling emergencies <br /> including evacuation, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, chemical spill clean-up <br /> and spill response equipment. In the event of a fire and explosion, the store will be <br /> evacuated using verbal commands. All employees will meet in a pre-designated area. <br /> Management will be responsible for contacting the Fire Dept. AutoZoners using clay <br /> absorbents will spread over and, using brooms, will work the absorbents into the spill <br /> until the oily residue is absorbed. All used absorbent will be swept up and placed in the <br /> Used Oil Absorbent drum. If there is a large spill AutoZoners will contact Our <br /> Emergency Vendor, who will dispatch an emergency response crew to begin clean-up. <br /> Any leaking chemical product is assumed to be a hazardous waste, must be placed into <br /> the appropriate Retail Chemical Waste bucket. Leaking chemical waste cannot be sold <br /> or given to any commercial account or customer. Each individual leaking retail products <br /> will be placed into a separate one-gallon zip lock bag and placed into the appropriate 5 <br /> gallon waste bucket. (Flammable/ Aerosols, Corrosive Acid, Corrosive Base, Toxic, and <br /> Reactive). Any waste generated in the process of cleaning up a chemical product spill <br /> will also be placed and sealed in a zip lock bag along with the same product. The lid for <br /> each waste bucket will remain tightly closed, except when adding waste to the bucket. <br />
