APPENDIX E
GROUNDWATER PUMP-AND-TREAT VOLUME-MASS CALCULATIONS
TOP FILLING STATION
101 South Wilson Way, Stockton CA
1) 18 March 2013 - 23 April 2013
Assumptions:
• A total volume of 89,060 gallons was extracted from wells EW-1, VW-1 C, VW-2A
and VW-3A between 18 March 2013 and 23 April 2013 (based on effluent flow
meter observations).
• Data collected from the pump and treat influent were representative of general
extracted groundwater conditions.
One gallon of water is equivalent to 3.79 liters (/), so the volume of processed water is
given by:
V= (89,060 gallons)(3.79 1/gal) = 337,537 / processed water
Multiplying the volume of the processed water by the average of the March 2013 and April
2013 TPH-g concentrations (03/13 = 25,000 pg/l, 04/13 = 8,000 pg/1; avg.= 16,500 pg/1)
yields the approximate mass of TPH-g removed from processed water:
MTPH-g = (337,537 /)(0.000016500 kg/1) = 5.57 kg TPH-g
A conversion factor of 2.205 Ib/kg. can be used to convert kilograms of TPH-g to pounds
of TPH-g:
MTPH_9 = (5.57 kg TPH-g)(2.205 Ib/kg) = 12.3 lbs. TPH-g
Advanced GeoEnvironmenfal,Inc.
