Ken and Ed Enditch •
101 S. Wilson Way
EHD concurs with and approves these recommendations.
EHD believes that the inferred groundwater flow direction shown in Figure 3 is in
error due to mistakenly contouring the —28.65 feet mean sea level (MSL)
groundwater elevation in MW-1 as —29.65 feet MSL. The actual flow direction is
probably the more usual east-northeast to northeast for this site.
The uncertainty regarding your plume's margins and possible commingling with
the 102 and/or 130 S. Wilson Way sites' plumes should be addressed through
additional lateral investigation and characterization of your dissolved plume.
Please submit a work plan to EHD no later than 15 August 2005 to complete the
lateral characterization and delineation of your dissolved plume. Any uncertainty
remaining regarding the vertical extent of your dissolved plume should also be
addressed in this work plan.
The proper delineation of your plume's margin is important as the information is
needed to characterize your plume's behavior and to resolve the issue relating to
the MTBE impacting the southwest corner of the 102 S. Wilson Way site, which
does not appear to be related to the release on that site. At the current time, it
seems more probable that the MTBE came from your release and/or from the
release on the 130 S. Wilson Way site. Hopefully, the additional lateral site
characterization of your plume can help resolve the issue.
Questions or comments may be directed to the undersigned at (209) 468-3436 or
by mail (address on the letterhead).
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Nuel C. Henderson, Jr., PG Margo, HS
Site Mitigation, Unit IV Supervisor, Unit IV
C: Tim Cuellar - AGE
James L.L. Barton, PG - CVRWQCB
