WORKPLAN: Feasibility Studies and Monitoring Well Installation Work Plan
DATED: March 11. 2002
PREPARED BY: Advanced GeoEnvironmental Inc.
ADDENDUM
ADEQUATE AND NECESSARY ELEMENTS OF THE WORKPLAN (H&S 25299.37,subd.(c)(3).):
1. Installation of a 6-inch ground water extraction well(EW-1) screened between 35-55 ft bag.
2. One 4-inch soil vapor extraction well(VW-4)and one in-situ air sparging well(AW-1),multi-level
wells,(MW-10,MW-12,and MW-13),to be screened 35115 ft bag(A),50-55 ft bag(B),70-75 ft
bsg(C), 100-110 ft bsg(D),and 125-142 ft bsg(E)and(MW-11)to be screened 35-45 ft bsg(A),
50-55 ft bsg(B),70-75 ft bsg(C), 100-110 ft bsg(D),and 125-145 ft bsg(E).
3. Performance of a 24-hour groundwater aquifer pumping test,an 8-hour soil vapor extraction test,
a 48-hour in-situ air sparge test, and an 8-hour soil vapor extraction/in-situ air sparge pilot test.
4. Soil samples will be sent to the laboratory for analysis of TPH-g,BTEX,(MTBE),(TAME),
di-isopropyl ether(DIPE),ethyl tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE),tertiary butanol(TBA), 1,2-
dichloroethane(1,2-DCA),ethylene dibromide(EDB),and total lead.
COMMENTS AND CONDITIONS:
1. EHD and CVRWQCB discussed the need to begin interim remediation to control the MTBE
plume. Begin immediately installing EW-1 and perform 24-hour groundwater extraction
feasibility test.
2. The work plan proposes the installation of(MW—8 and MW-9)to be screened between 35-45 ft
bsg. EHD recommends installing multi-level wells for MW-8 and MW-9 to further delineate the
southwest and northwest extent of petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted ground water.
3. EHD recommends taking IAS parameters of the observation points of wells MW-1,MW-2,
MW-3,MW-5,MW-8,VW-1,VW-2,VW-3 and EW-1 for an 8-hour period the day prior to
running the 48-hour in-situ air sparge test. The parameters should be the same as the actual IAS
pilot test defined in the work plan.
4. EHD recommends that the location of the in-situ air sparge well(AW-1)be moved south west of
VW-I to the rear comer of the Top Filling building or west of VW-3 to increase the number of
down gradient observation points for this study.
