' M KLEINFEL1) ER
' Water level measurements will be made in the wells at the beginning of the sampling round
prior to purging and sampling the wells The depth to groundwater will then be measured
in each well according to the protocol described in Attachment A The depth to
groundwater measurements will then be converted to relative groundwater elevations with
respect to mean sea level or a local benchmark by subtracting them from the surveyed
casing elevations
' The resulting groundwater elevations will be used to assess the direction of the groundwater
gradient at the time of sampling This information can then be used to assess which wells
' represent upgradient and which wells represent downgradient groundwater conditions
Approximately 24 hours after the new well is developed, three to five well volumes will be
purged, and samples will be collected from the wells, as described in Attachment A The
three groundwater samples will be submitted to a State certified laboratory for the following
analyses
• TPH Purgeable by EPA Method 8015M/5030 (gasoline range)
' • BTEX by EPA Method 8020/602
' • Total Lead by EPA Methods (ICRP/AA)
The samples will be submitted for analyses on a normal laboratory schedule requiring
Mapproximately two weeks (10 working days) for completion
' ASSUMPTIONS AND CLIENT RESPONSIBILIDES
• This proposal will be adequate to obtain authorization from the SJCEHD If a
' more comprehensive workplan is necessary, additional charge for workplan
preparation will be incurred
rp Adequate work space and access will be provided Klemfelder will attempt to
advance the soil boring at the proposed locations If the drilling equipment
cannot be positioned, alternative drilling locations or sampling methods should
' be investigated The borings are to be drilled with a truck mounted drill ng
equipped with hollow stem augers If alternative dnllmg methods or concrete
cutting are required, additional costs may be incurred
• No respiratory protection or shoring will be necessary
DH and 7EI94 Page 4 of 6
Copyright 1994 Klernfelder, Inc
L
