1 June 5, 1998
Page 2
comprised of over-excavated material from the former UST locations and soil removed to
accommodate installation of new USTs
SCOPE
OF WORK
• Excavation and Removal Activities. Three 10,000-gallon gasoline USTs, one
1,000-gallon waste oil UST, one 500-gallon waste oil UST, product dispensers, and
associated product lines were removed on March 2, 1998 by Henderson Construction
Over-excavation and sampling were performed on March 6 and 11, 1998 Mr Steve
Sasson, Mr Michael J Tnfurna Jr, and Mr Ron Rowe of the SJCPHS-EHD were on
site at various stages of the UST removal to observe site progress and direct sampling
activities
r
• UST Sampling. On March 2, 1998, six soil samples were collected from sidewalls of
the UST pit at 13 feet bgs One additional soil sample (T-3A) was collected
6, 1998 at 19 feet bgs and two additional soil samples (T-I A and T-6) were colon lected
March
on March 11, 1998 at 17 feet bgs following additional excavation UST excavation soil
samples were analyzed for TPH-g, BTEX compounds, MtBE, and total lead
' Samples T-4 and T-5 were also collected on March 2, 1998 from beneath the waste oil
tanks at 9 feet and 8 feet bgs, respectively An additional soil sample was collected at
location T-4 following over-excavation to 12 feet bgs Waste oil tank soil samples
were analyzed for TPH-g, BTEX compounds, MtBE, TPH-d, TOG, volatile organics
semi-volatile organics, CAM 5 metals, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) g
addition to those parameters listed for the former fuel storage tanks
Soil analytical data for UST sampling is presented in I able 1 Certified analytical
reports and chain-of-custody documentation is presented in Attachment B
• Product Line Sampling. On March 2, 1998 soil was collected from four locations
' (PL-1 through PL-4) beneath the product lines at depths ranging from 3 to 4 feet bgs
An additional soil sample from PL-2 was collected on March 6, 1998 at 8 feet bgs
Soil samples PL-2A and PL-3A were collected on March 11, 1998 at I7 feet bgs
tollowing additional soil excavation Product line soil samples were analyzed for
TPH-g, BTEX compounds, MtBE, and total lead
1 Soil analytical data for product line samples are summarized in Table I Certified
analytical reports and chain-of-custody documentation is presented in attachment B
920-127 lA/1-NKI'ULL DOC.
